dropship

This is an old revision of the document!

Books are drop-shipped via IngramSpark spreadsheet ordering.

If you're visiting this page in hope of learning how to get access to IS spreadsheet ordering: I can't help you. The method seems to be “order so many titles through the web interface that they're willing to set you up with it.”
This page is only useful once you have access to spreadsheet-based ordering.

Information needed:

  • KS Backer Report Spreadsheet
  • ISBN and title of every title included

You also need shipping method codes. Shipping method depends on where the books are printed and where they're going.

printing in US

  • USPSMMDC for US destination
  • ECONROW for non-US destination

printing in UK

  • ECONOMY for UK destinations
  • STANDARD for mainland Europe destinations

printing in AU

  • ECONAU for Australia
  • don't ship from Australia to anywhere outside Australia. You cannot reach Australia. You cannot escape Australia. Just be glad you can print in Australia.

Orders from US, UK, and AU each require a separate spreadsheet.
Simplest thing is to grab the version you used the last time you attempted to fulfill a Kickstarter. Keep the column names but erase the data. You now have a template you can use. Make sure the Lightning Source Pubid field gives the right code for TWP in the chosen country. Save them as campaign-IngramLocation-dropship-YYYY-MM-DD as an XLSM, i.e., defenestrated-UK-dropship-2026-02-31.xlsm.

What gets printed where depends on the destination.

  • UK: EU and UK
  • AU: Australia Only
  • US: North and South America, Japan, Asia, New Zealand (Yes, it's cheaper to ship to NZ from the US than Australia. Yes, this is ridiculous)

(If you're in doubt, go to the IS web interface. Fill out an order for that book to that destination. See how much it costs to ship there from each printer location. Compare the cheapest shipping from each location.)

Make a copy of the backer report. Trim it down to drop shipments only. Delete everything else. This new sheet will be sorted into into three separate spreadsheets: one for UK printing, one for AU printing, one for US printing.

Now that you have three spreadsheets for three printing locations, you can rearrange each to fit the IS order spreadsheet. The spreadsheet has columns defined for you. Cut and paste the information you have to fit the template IS gave you. There will be a lot of cutting and pasting, one column at a time. And when you finish the first sheet, you get to do it again :!: And again :!:

The columns are:

  • ISBN (beware autoincrement!)
  • Title
  • Quantity
  • Customer PO. You will make up this number using the date and autoincrements. (YYYYMMDD001, YYYMMDD002, etc.)
  • Customer PO line # (usually 1, might be 2 if the backer gets two different titles. Do not autoincrement!)
  • Customer Alternate Reference # (leave blank)
  • Shipping Method depends on country, see the list above.
  • Name/Recipient
  • Address Line 1
  • Address Line 2
  • City
  • State
  • Postal Code
  • Country Code
  • Phone Number – SPREADSHEET BREAKS COPY AND PASTE, START NEW CHUNK HERE
  • Address Line 3
  • Order Notification Email – backer's email address
  • Nine blank fields because TWP doesn't do enough business in EU to have customs there.
  • Actual Selling Price – always fill this in even if it seems stupid, get numbers from MWL
  • Commercial Invoice Currency – always USD

Check for extra copies or other books ordered as add-ons. Add lines and adjust quantities for them. Remind MWL to never offer extra print copies as add-ons, because this step keeps tripping him up.

Check for stray or failed autoincrements Check for stray or failed autoincrements Check for stray or failed autoincrements, (No really, MWL, check!)

Save your spreadsheets.

You should now have three complete Ingram order spreadsheets! Give thenm to MWL to send to Ingram.
